Shrove Tuesday Football at Alnwick Castle
Every year on Shrove Tuesday
Commencing at 2pm on Shrove Tuesday every year, the Duke of Northumberland starts the 'game' by throwing the football from the battlements of the Alnwick Castle barbican to the waiting crowd below. The game continues downhill to the pastures and is played on the pastures and the river Aln below the castle.
Spectators are welcome - but don't get too close!

Northumberland Castles Triathlon
2010 Sunday 6th June
First event took place in 2009 and is now expected to be an annual event. An olympic distance triathlon 1500m swim, 42km cycle and 10km run taking in Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle and Alnwick Castle where the last part of the run is hoped to be through the town of Alnwick.

Brinkburn Priory Summer Music Festival

Jools Holland at Alnwick Castle
2010 Saturday the 17th of July.
Once again Jools Holland with his 17 piece Rhythm and Blues Orchestra will be heading the cast of a fantastic music event at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland. Special guest Stars include Alison Moyet and Ruby Turner will be joining him on stage.
Gates open from 5pm with guest support artists on stage from 6.30pm. The event will have a grand firework finale to round off what promises to be a fantastic night.

Alnwick International Music Festival
2010 31st July - 7th August.
Over 300 entertainers from around the world, a grand costumed event
with dancers in traditional costume with traditional music. Evening
concerts in the Playhouse, and dances each evening in the Northumberland

Provincial Booksellers Fair - 2nd July 2011
2011 Saturday the 2nd July 10am - 4.30pm
The Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association will be holding a fantastic Book Fair in the Northumberland Hall, Alnwick, on Saturday the 2nd of July 2011 between 10am and 4.30pm. There will be many speciality book sellers attending the fair with hundreds of 'collectable' and rare books available. All will be in very good to excellent condition.
The Provincial Fairs Booksellers Association has a full calendar of events all over the UK.
