Shrove Tuesday Football at Alnwick Castle
Every year on Shrove Tuesday
Commencing at 2pm on Shrove Tuesday every year, the Duke of Northumberland starts the 'game' by throwing the football from the battlements of the Alnwick Castle barbican to the waiting crowd below. The game continues downhill to the pastures and is played on the pastures and the river Aln below the castle.
Spectators are welcome - but don't get too close!

Art Tour - Northumberland

The Art Tour is a network of artists throughout Northumberland who will be opening their studios/venues on Saturdays and Sundays during June this year, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. - free entrance. This is an opportunity for anyone to visit studios and see artists' work and even make a purchase!

Beat The Tide!
2013 30th of June
Help for Heroes are excited to announce this year we are returning to the north to bring you a ‘Beat the Tide’ trek along Northumberland’s Coast on Sunday 30th June. This is a truly scenic trek taking in 26 miles of the lesser explored part of the UK’s coastline with the added challenge that you will need to reach our finish line on Holy Island, Lindisfarne before the tide cuts off our route across the Pilgrims Path. A great opportunity for a day out or weekend away with friends or family as well as being a highly fundraisable challenge. Contact me for further information.

Brinkburn Priory Summer Music Festival

The 20th Anniversary of this exciting Classical Music festival in and around this beautiful Brinkburn Priory. Our programme will include a return of the acclaimed Carducci Quartet, the ever-popular Northern Sinfonia and, as the finale, a stunning performance from Paul’s very own Gabrieli Consort & Players of Haydn’s The Seasons. 2013 3rd August to 10th August.
8 days of events, 250 entertainers from around the world, a grand costumed event with dancers in traditional costume with traditional music. Evening concerts in the Playhouse, and dances each evening in the Northumberland Hall. Most events are centered around the Market place.

Provincial Booksellers Fair - 24th August 2013
2011 Saturday the 2nd July 10am - 4.30pm
The Provincial Booksellers Fairs Association will be holding a fantastic Book Fair in the Northumberland Hall, Alnwick, on Saturday the 24th of August 2013 between 10am and 4.30pm. There will be many speciality book sellers attending the fair with hundreds of 'collectable' and rare books available. All will be in very good to excellent condition.
The Provincial Fairs Booksellers Association has a full calendar of events all over the UK.
For 2013 we are pleased to present the 3rd Alnwick Book Fair. ENTRY FREE!
